LABOUR MP DEMANDS PARLIAMENT IGNORE ‘MADNESS’ BREXIT VOTE

Labour legislator David Lammy says Thursday’s national vote was non-binding and “our sovereign Parliament needs to now vote on whether we should quit the EU.”

He says some “leave” supporters now regret their votes and Parliament should vote on Britain’s EU membership. He said “we can stop this madness and bring this nightmare to an end. … Let us not destroy our economy on the basis of lies and the hubris of (‘leave’ leader) Boris Johnson.”

Constitutional experts say Parliament cannot easily ignore the will of the people. Alan Renwick, deputy director of University College London’s Constitution Unit, says “in legal theory that is possible. In practice, that is absolutely not possible.”

FORMER AUSCHWITZ GUARD FOUND GUILTY OF FACILITATING MURDER OF 170,000

Hanning was an SS guard during Nazi-occupied Poland between January 1943 and June 1944. During that time hundreds of thousands of Hungarian Jews were murdered.

The trial took place in the city of Detmold in western Germany. A doctor determined that Hanning was fit to stand trial, but each session lasted only two hours. At first, Hanning refused to speak and, according to witnesses, avoided eye contact with survivors who had flown in from Canada, the United States, Hungary and Britain to give their testimony.

But at one point during the four-month trial, Hanning broke his silence. “I deeply regret having been part of a criminal organization responsible for the deaths of so many innocent people and destruction of countless families,” Hanning said to a packed courtroom.

Donald Trump backs Brexit and risks a new fight with David Cameron as he reveals plans to turn his controversial White House run into a Hollywood movie

trump-speaks2 (1)

Mr Cameron has insisted he will not comment further on the US election despite his earlier intervention while Mr Trump was a rank outsider in the race.

Mr Trump previously said he would be tempted by Brexit if he was a British voter but today went further in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Asked whether he would back Brexit, Mr Trump appeared confused by the term before adding: ‘Oh yeah, I think they should leave.’

The tycoon also announced he would be visiting Britain later this month – the day after the referendum to open his new golf course in Scotland.

WHY WE’RE NEVER TOLD WHY WE’RE ATTACKED

911-smoke-2

Yet, Western militaries have killed infinitely more innocent civilians in the Middle East than Russia has. Then why won’t Western officials and media cite retaliation for that Western violence as a cause of terrorist attacks on New York, Paris and Brussels.

Instead, there’s a fierce determination not to make the same kinds of linkages that the press made so easily when it was Russia on the receiving end of terror. [See Consortiumnews.com’s “Obama Ignores Russian Terror Victims.”]

For example, throughout four hours of Sky News’ coverage of the July 7, 2005 attacks in London, only the briefest mention was made about a possible motive for that horrific assault on three Underground trains and a bus, killing 52 people. But the attacks came just two years after Britain’s participation in the murderous invasion of Iraq.

Prime Minister Tony Blair, one of the Iraq War’s architects, condemned the loss of innocent life in London and linked the attacks to a G-8 summit he’d opened that morning. A TV host then read and belittled a 10-second claim of responsibility from a self-proclaimed Al Qaeda affiliate in Germany saying that the Iraq invasion was to blame. There was no more discussion about it.

Ex-CIA director David Petraeus warns UK will be more open to terror threat if Britain leaves the EU

Ex-CIA director David Petraeus warned British voters today that leaving the EU would do nothing to protect them from future terrorist attacks.

In the wake of the Brussels attack last week – the second deadly terrorist atrocity to hit a European capital within five months – the retired four-star US general said it would be the worst time for Britain and the EU if voters opted to leave in June’s referendum.

General Petraeus, who led US and Nato forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, said it would ‘deal a significant blow to the EU’s strength and resilience at exactly the moment when the West is under attack from multiple directions’.

His comments directly contradict his fellow ex-CIA director General Michael Hayden, who said on Friday that Britain’s national security will not be harmed if it leaves the EU.

He said membership of the 28-state bloc ‘in some ways gets in the way of the state providing security for its own citizens’ and dismissed claims by In campaigners that the UK would lose out from shared intelligence if it voted to leave.

And he warned that the UK should not rely on the poor intelligence services of many EU member states such as Belgium, whose authorities failed to stop home-grown terrorists kill 31 people last week.

National security matters have taken an increasingly important role in the EU debate this week following the deadly attacks in Brussels and spy chiefs are split over whether leaving the 28-state bloc would damage or benefit Britain’s national security.

General Hayden is among a number of former spy chiefs, including former Mi6 chief Sir Richard Dearlove, who have backed Britain leaving the EU, insisting it would not damage national security and would bring benefits for Britain’s security agencies

France warns Britain of migrant influx after EU exit

France has warned Britain that it will let thousands of migrants head to its shores if the country opts to leave the European Union.

In an interview with the Financial Times, French Economy Minister Emmanuel Macron said a Brexit would affect a deal which allows Britain to maintain border controls in France.

His view echoes recent comments by British Prime Minister David Cameron that a migrant camp in Calais known as the “Jungle” could move to southern England if Britain leaves the EU.

Thousands of migrants fleeing war and poverty have converged on the French port over the past year.

But, with Cameron meeting today French President Francois Hollande to discuss security and migration, opponents of EU membership say Macron’s comments are part of a carefully orchestrated campaign by London and Paris to scare British voters into supporting the status quo.
