Canada’s Brooke Henderson almost de-rails at CP Women’s Open


It looks like Brooke Henderson’s Canadian homecoming party at the CP Women’s Open will play on through the weekend.

For a while, it appeared that it might be ending early.

At a tournament sponsored by a railroad, Henderson got on the bogey train Friday at Vancouver Golf Club in Coquitlam.

The 17-year-old from Smiths Falls, Ont., struggled much of the day, but made a crucial up and down for par on her 18th hole that should allow her to survive the 36-hole cut.

Henderson fired a three-over par 75 to finish at one-over through two rounds. The cut to the top 70 at ties at the $2.25-million US LPGA Tour event is projected to be one-over.
