Snubbed! Furious Juncker vows Brussels will BLOCK trade deals between US and EU states

trump-juncker-811751.jpg

In a rancorous speech the EU Commission chief accused the eurosceptic President of giving him the “cold shoulder” and ignoring the role of eurocrats in running European trade negotiations.

Mr Trump has openly stated previously that he prefers dealing bilaterally with countries on a one to one basis and is not a fan of overbearing supranational structures like the EU.

He reportedly pressed Angela Merkel for a swift trade deal during her trip to the White House earlier this year, prompting a bemused response from the German chancellor who replied that all agreements had to go through Brussels.

The billionaire tycoon has also been publicly keen on striking an economic pact with Britain, which will be able to forge its own trade policy for the first time in 45 years once it has left the EU.

Talking about Mr Trump’s attitude towards Europe, the EU chief said: “They say: ‘We do not want to negotiate with you as a European Union but with each member state separately’.

“We cannot allow individual [trade] agreements between the Americans and individual European countries to take place.”

Mr Juncker made his remarks about the US administration just hours after it emerged that it is likely to pull America out of the international Paris Agreement on climate change.

Why We’re Never Told Why We’re Attacked

twintowers-statueofliberty

When Western media discusses terrorism against the West, the motive is almost always left out, even when the terrorists state they are avenging longstanding Western violence in the Muslim world, reports Joe Lauria.

After a Russian commercial airliner was downed over Egypt’s Sinai last October, Western media reported that the Islamic State bombing was retaliation against Russian airstrikes in Syria. The killing of 224 people, mostly Russian tourists on holiday, was matter-of-factly treated as an act of war by a fanatical group without an air force resorting to terrorism as a way to strike back.

Yet, Western militaries have killed infinitely more innocent civilians in the Middle East than Russia has. Then why won’t Western officials and media cite retaliation for that Western violence as a cause of terrorist attacks on New York, Paris and Brussels?

SENATOR BLASTS TSA ADMINISTRATOR FOR NOT DELIVERING REPORT TESTING AIRPORT SECURITY VULNERABILITY

241215tsa

The committee hearing centered on efforts to prevent attacks on transportation infrastructure in the wake of the Brussels terrorist attack on March 22. Neffenger was in Brussels when terrorist attacks on the airport and subway system killed at least 26 people last month. He was actually at the airport the day of the bombings, arriving as the bombs exploded.

“As you noted Mr. Chairman, I was at the Brussels airport the day of the bombings. I was there for meetings with a number of my European counterparts. We arrived right as the bombs detonated, and I will tell you being there on that day, seeing the devastation, seeing the chaos of the airport environment and the evil behind it was a stark reminder of the important work that we do at TSA everyday to protect travelers,” he testified during his opening statement.

Left-leaning Website Admits, “Europe’s Muslims hate the West”

Europe’s Muslims hate the West” is not a title from Jihad Watch or Gates of Vienna, but left-leaning website Politico. It could make one wonder if Trumpian immigration policy will one day be the norm.

The writer, Dutch novelist Leon de Winter, sets out to tackle a certain politically correct assumption. As he writes, “The first reaction to the Brussels massacres among postmodern European intellectuals was predictable: What did we, Europeans, do to them, our Muslims?” His answer?

Nothing.

The conventional narrative on Muslim terrorism is now familiar and multi-faceted. For example, State Department spokesman Marie Harf floated the notion last year that providing “jobs” was a solution to combating jihadism. Yet de Winter points out that “the unemployment figure in Brussels’ infamous Molenbeek neighborhood — now referred to as the jihadi hothouse of Europe —” of 30 percent is “not unusual in southern European countries or the Arab world.” He not only points out that blue-collar Belgian youth and Muslim youth are identical socioeconomically, but also writes “In Spain, youth unemployment has reached 50 percent and the welfare state is less developed than in Belgium, yet Spanish citizens aren’t blowing themselves up in metro stations.”

At least FIFTY ISIS supporters are working as baggage handlers, cleaners and catering staff at Brussels airport, claim police

Police at Brussels airport have claimed at least 50 Islamic State supporters are working there as baggage handlers, cleaners and catering staff.

In an astonishing open letter, the officers said they have warned about the terrorist sympathisers whose security badges give them access to planes, but they remain employed.

The airport police, who are threatening to go on strike because of security deficiencies, also said they have raised the issue of terrorists scouting the airport to plan possible attacks.

POPE DENOUNCES TERRORISM IN EASTER MASS AMID TIGHT VATICAN SECURITY

pope1

Five days after Islamic State attacks in Brussels killed 31 people, extraordinary security controls left some faithful waiting in line for hours and forced some to watch the Mass from up to three-quarters of a mile away from St. Peter’s Square. Even so, the ceremony drew as many as 200,000 on a sunny and crisp Easter morning, according to media reports.

Speaking from the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica, Francis lamented the difficulties of political and economic refugees looking to settle in Europe, and he discussed the religious significance of the Jesus resurrection symbolized by Easter, something he called a “message of life” for the world.

“This day invites us not to forget those men and women seeking a better future, an ever more numerous throng of migrants and refugees, including many children, fleeing war, hunger, poverty and social injustice,” the pontiff said.

Belgian Police Knew Where Paris Attacker Was Likely Hiding—and Did Nothing

With Belgian officials struggling to explain how they missed crucial information leading up to Tuesday’s devastating Brussels bombings, local police in the northern Belgian city of Mechelen admitted on Friday that as far back as December, they knew where the sole surviving Paris attacker might be hiding in the Belgian capital, but failed to pass the address to the country’s anti-terrorist unit—even though Europe’s biggest manhunt in years was underway.

As details mounted about the gaffes and missteps of Belgian officials that might have averted this week’s bloodshed, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in the city for talks with Belgium’s government about how to dismantle ISIS’s terror networks. U.S. officials told reporters that at least two Americans were among the 31 people killed in Tuesday’s suicide bombings, two which occurred in a crowded airport terminal, and a third on an underground train in central Brussels. ISIS has claimed responsibility. “We are all of us going to help,” Kerry told the Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel at a joint press conference in Brussels. “We will renew our vow to come together against a common enemy to keep our people safe.”

Brussels attacks: Security scanners ‘could be installed at airport entrances’ in wake of bomb terror

security-m_3599823b

Security scanners could be installed at the entrances to airports, under proposals to be discussed next week in the wake of the Brussels terrorist attack, the Telegraph understands.

The case for installing a security perimeter outside of airport arrival halls will “definitely” be examined at an emergency meeting of experts that has been called for March 31, according to EU sources.

The meeting will be attended by experts from each country, the European Commission’s transport department and officials from the European Aviation Safety Agency.

Airline safety rules, including the ban on liquids in hand baggage, are agreed at a common European level.
